'W' on transcript.. how bad?

How bad does it look to have a withdrawal on my high school transcript? Will it hurt my chances of getting in? (at AU and at other schools for that matter)

I’m currently taking US Gov online but I simply do not have time for it… (summer reading, work, volunteering, etc) I can continue the class but I’m afraid I’ll get a B and bring down my GPA. I’m thinking about withdrawing from the class… but i’m not sure how bad that will look on my transcripts.

PLEASE HELP I NEED TO KNOW IF I CAN STOP WRITING THIS ESSAY ON THE FEDERALISTS TONIGHT AND CALL IT QUITS OR IF I SHOULD BUCKLE UP AND GET 'ER DONE.

Thank you :)

Excuses are excuses, and it shows one thing to have a legit reason such as medical or emergency but anything else is just you giving up on a commitment. Your worried about getting a B I would say focus more towards getting the A because colleges don’t want to hear about our crap excuses or how we were too busy. Obviously I don’t know your life so do what works for you. Just throwing in my two cents saying you should fulfill your commitment instead of trying to get out of this essay. Either way colleges see you couldn’t finish by withdrawing or if you get a B then maybe your not cut out for the big leagues. Buckle down and go for the A. I am Also taking an online class this summer. I know how ya feel its rough sometimes.

Thanks for your input!

I withdrew from my calc class and I was accepted this year

Sit down and make a schedule for yourself…work, summer reading, the Gov class, etc…and then stick to it. You will need to learn this kind of time management to succeed in college, when you will be a whole lot busier. Once you sit down to make a schedule, you will realize that you have more free time available than you think you have.
