w t f science

or something abou the pore wouldnt go lower

Hmm for some reason I thought science was pretty easy. Thought Math was a ***** :(

Yeah space10045, thats what I wanted to put and what i thought i put, I'm asking if you remember the letter of that answer.

Science killed me.
I was ready to ace it, considering I got a 36 on that section when I took it back in April, but no. no no no no. It was awful. I guessed a lot. I'm holding my breath that the curve is gentle on me.

I think I put for ion that the electrons and protons were equal..none of the others really made sense.

I thought science was okay except the last passage.

hmm prob not, it has to do with the electron charge.

crude! I put equal too...

I thought science was okay, except for that last one on chemistry and radioactive decay/fission/whatever. I really wish that I had taken AP chem or something as I'm sure those last 2-3 problems would have been a piece of cake then.

The answer, as a few have already stated, to the bacteria one is that bacterias have a cell membrane. It wasn't nucleus because the question basically asked what a bacteria has. I actually thought that that one was pretty common sense in the science world (even if you hadn't taken biology in a couple years, I thought it was still basic enough that you'd remember). I may be biased because I took AP Biology last year (and got a 5 :) ), but I'm sure that I knew that question before I had taken AP Bio.

While I can understand people disagreeing with me for the above, I think there's no excuse for not knowing what an ion is. IIRC, you're expected to have taken high school (or maybe from middle school?) physical/life sciences by the time you take the ACT. And I think that something like this is so fundamental to chemistry/science that everybody should know it. An ion is a charged atom (Does NOT have an equal number of electrons and protons).

I think = e- and p+ was the answer, but the question was worded like a backwards definition.

At least I hope it was, b/c that's what I put and I know what an ion is.

The science section wasn't hard - just not enough time. I didn't get to 2 of the experiments so Iput A for all of them. Oops.

To the above poster:

same here! it took me FAR longer to do the science section than on any of the practice tests, where at most i didn't do about 2. On the actual test I filled in B/G for about the last 13....O_O...I'm so screwed. sadly, I'm just hoping for about a 22 on science. prays for an easy curve
ironically, I got those ones that needed outside knowledge correct. lol. Those are probably like the only questions in those passages that I got right...

I went into the test with no knowledge of the format (no one from my school really does ACTs but I gave it a shot) so I didn't get too indignant at the questions. I didn't know they were supposed to be based only on interpreting the given information. But one of the H ions questions and the cell question were definitely not found in the given information. I answered them just trying to recall AP bio.

Do they curve individual sections? I seriously though...ok these aren't hard but they take a while to figure out. I didn't read any of the paragraphs either! I just underlined the objectives and moved on. And I seriously only got to like question 27 and had to guess the rest. I was about to cry. Same on Reading. And I was so confident I was going to max out my score on those too!

Yea, some of the question we're pure BS. I didn't even get to the last 2 experiements. I thought the turtle one was kind of cool - I'm such a nerd. Haha.

hmm well only problem i had a real problem with, was the one about the bacteria and what did it have.. since i was terrible at bio.. but other than that it was pretty easy. The last chem was easy for me, because I had been taught that by an AP chem teacher in preap chem, so I had all the concepts down pretty well.. the bio is what killed me, if anything..

haha maybe your not a nerd, but into beastiality :P

wow this science section was really hard. i'm suppose to be a pro in bio and chem, but some these questions even got me confuse. especially im not good with the sun question. man tough luck

the science was a lot harder than I was expecting! I've had 29's on my practice tests, but I'm now hoping for a 25.

same vegan, i got 30s on practice science, but i'd be lucky if i hit 25.. no joke

I was pretty much completely guessing on the last passage and half of the one before.
