i just asked this in a forum but now i'm freakin out. i'm applying ED to NYU. i DO have to write two 500 word essays, right? the one on the common app AND the one on the NYU supplementals? (along with the 4 shorter ones, i know)

please help asap! i really hope one of these longer essays was not written in vain...

No? At least, I didn't have to last year, unless they changed somethinga round, but I doubt it.
One typical, long admission essay, 4 short supplemental questions. Maybe some people are confusing the admission essay with that extra essay that's used to explain illness or suspension (I believe, I'm definitely not an expert on this).
Breathe, relax, don't worry, it'll all be over in a few months =)

yea...commmonapp + nyu supplement WHICH IS THE 4 SHORT PERSONAL STATEMENTS is what you want...HOWEVER if ur applying only using NYU application....THEN u'll do the NYU specific 500 word essay thing and the 4 short personal statements....thats prolly the original NYU app b4 they switched to commonapp...so yea...and o...can you call to just to make sure? thanks!

NYU doesn't say how much you're allowed to write for your short statements, but on the actual application form you're only given a couple of lines and it does state that you should keep it short. There's a reason they're called SHORT statements.

When did NYU switch to using the common application???
