My D just came back from orientation and found out that she will be dorming in Wade Hampton. Can anybody tell me honestly what to expect (pros/cons)? Does it come with a microwave/fridge?

Here’s a link you might find helpful from the housing site. It shows a panorama and floor plan of Wade Hampton. If you’re on the floor plan link, down below the floor plan is a link to “download the building brochure.” That will give more specifics about microfridge, etc.
Here’s the link:

Thanks greenville. I did see the floorplan but was more interested in the current condition of the building, atmosphere, etc. My D had heard that it is the most conservative of the dorms and this would not be a good fit for her outgoing, social nature.

D had several friends who lived there first semester freshman year then moved to Sorority Houses for the second semester, none wanted to stay there. She says that your D should try to switch if possible because you are correct that it is not a very good fit for an outgoing “social” person.

Furniture is set in place so you can’t arrange the rooms like you can in many of the others and it has either window or wall A/C not central air. Overall, based on what she has heard from friends she feels it is not one of the more desirable girls dorms especially for someone that matches the description of your D.

She said that Sims (which is in the same complex), South Tower or Patterson would be better fits for her personality and that everyone she knows who lived in either South Tower or Patterson have remained friends for all four years. These would be the three she would recommend that your D put on her request to switch/transfer list.

Thanks for the feedback eadad. That’s exactly the info I was looking for. I will have D try to switch but I’m not sure how easy it will be at this point. For what it’s worth Wade Hampton wasn’t even on her preferred list to begin with. Any advice on how to initiate a change?
