Wow, 76 applications to Grinnell from Nepal last year? I wonder what those figures are this year, and as far as I know, there’s been only one acceptance into Grinnell from Nepal. That would put the acceptance rate for the special scholarship at 1/76 * 100 = 1.3% by last year’s figures.

@batuli-- do u have any idea when St Olaf will reply?

They already did to me… rejection that is …have not they sent you an email?

@nepalimussa .You are right. I mean Lawrence Uni. I also made a question with the admission officer, She told me that there are two students who have been accepted and one of them will not be attending LU as you refer and another is my good friend. Do you know the financial aid provided by Lawrence to your friend ?

Lawerence University does not have good aid to internationals, that I know for sure.

@batuli . You may be right. But recently I met a girl from Greece who have got a good aid from same University. She was from IB as I know.

Yes, they “kind of have reserved” scholarships for UWC students, but internationals like us are expected to pay at least around $20,000.

I am waitlisted by GETTYSBURG (this one doesn’t count I guess) and also by Yale-NUS (that waitlisted 120 students) and will decide around 10th…

Happy that got into Berea coz m not even thinking of getting in. Though Yale_NUS’s curriculum is pulling me and I’d die to get there…

I really wished I was on the receiving end of your joy ,JacobsWannaBe.

@sashi: her financial aid was only a thousand dollars short of her demonstrated need. It was a good aid- no loans or campus employment.

@nepalimusa: Right before my eyes, I have seen three international students who rejected to go Lawrence University and all of them have good aid. One is from Nepal as you said, and other two are from Itay and Greece. I don’t think I can put much hope still.

Lawerence provided a very good aid? Well they have a huge disparity between what they say and what they do, then.

@batuli: you never know. Getting accepted to colleges is as random as it can get. But I believe it also depends on how badly the college wants you.

For the record, the friend that I am talking about was accepted where she never sent her “mandatory” supplement essay. Also she has been waitlisted at a college which mentioned SAT subject tests as mandatory, and she never took one of those. She thought her application would be withdrawn, but was as awestruck as I was when an offer of waiting list arrived at her doorstep.

I didn’t get any college though.

I am happy for her but am also chewing my own tongue in jealousy and absurdity of this situation.

@batuli don’t worry brother/sister. I know my words will convey unintended arrogance than sincere advice but believe me ‘whatever happens is for good reasons. Keep patience’.

@nepalimussa I didn’t send my essay at all to Berea. And I was sure that my application is incomplete and rejection is sure. I was dumbfounded to be accepted.

I hate to hear what jacobswannabe said to nepalimussa. Now that berea says it considers Essay the most important part of application , how on earth could they accepte someone who did not bother to send the essay? I spent days to write the particular essay for them.Poor Poor me !

Not offence jacobswannabe though. I was happy that u had got in berea.

I don’t take offense… that is perhaps my only quality…

Has anyone got accepted from wait list this year?

Anyone else heard from St Olaf?
