Wait ED schools request first quarter grades?

Some of my classes grade on a weeding out process where the beginning of the year is meant to be really hard so that everyone starts off with Bs and moves up to As after we get the hang of how to complete most of the work and the teacher starts dropping quizzes (AP physics c: e and m and linear algebra). How is it fair to be on a semester system for grading but then a college asks for your quarter grades? Do colleges take that into account?

I asked my college counselor if they just won’t send grades and she told me to suck it up and try my best

I agree with your counselor.

My daughter’s HS was technically on semesters but her school would also release quarter grades. Fair or not, if your school releases quarter grades, you don’t have a choice.

do quarter grades apply to GPA? some school have quarter grades but only semester grade are calculated to cumulative GPA.

They don’t have any impact on GPA. It’s semester but quarter grades to our school are like progress reports where it’s mainly used to write comments on our work in the class. The grade is sometimes not even put on the quarter report as most teachers don’t think it is representative of the kid.
