Wait for high school class rank or let UT assign one?

Basically, my entire application is finished except for class rank. My school ranks but will only have ranks by the end of the semester (may be after UT deadline). I anticipate to be valedictorian or salutatorian but am not 100% sure. I was wondering if anyone else has been or is in a similar situation. Would it be better to wait and hold up everything including honors app and financial aid or just go ahead and let UT assign one? The UT admin counselor said it was basically my call and that the class ranks UT assigns are usually very accurate. Also, do UT-assigned ranks still permit being an auto-admit? Thanks!

Send in what you have now. You can update it later.

If your school ranks, I am surprised they don’t rank at least once a year. It is interesting to see all the variations of ranking going on.

When does your semester end? In January? Personally, I would not hold up the rest of your application until well after the deadline while you wait to see if you’re valedictorian or salutatorian. What if you miss out on UT Honors while you’re waiting for class rank? I suggest that you go ahead and apply and then send your class rank when you get it.

Forgot to mention I’m out of state, so no auto-admit anyway. My semester ends mid December before Christmas break. I’ve already sent everything in, but on MyStatus it says the only thing I need is class rank in an acceptable format.

Does your school not rank at the end of every semester? Typically, for in-state students, the rank that is used by UT is where you are at the end of Junior year (suck for some, definitely!).

My school seems to rank randomly once in senior year well before graduation and once for graduation. The counselors have said the ranks should be ready in the two days, so I’m gonna wait till the end of the week to see them again about it.
