wait, how do we know it's the 15th again?

paging through the yale website, it doesn't seem clear. can somebody tell me how we know for sure? this is obviously bothering me haha.

Last year, the website didn't give a specific release date. It just said EA decisions would be released "in mid-December." They were released on Friday, 12/14, at about 3 PM EST.

that makes things more ominous...

what if it came on the 12th? who knows, it could come tomorrow!

No, when they sent us the confirmation e-mail/letter they say that the admissions result website will be available on the 15th, meaning that decision are out on the 15th.

Ahh. I don't see that in my e-mail but I'll take your word for it.

^ Really? Mine says:
** Online notification dates: December 15th for Early Action, March 31st for Regular Decision
Thank you for your interest in Yale! We wish you the best of luck in the admissions process.
Once I went back and read that it made me a bit less paranoid. Now I don't check my Eli Account every 20 minutes to see if they've posted up decisions. I'm just waiting for the 15th...

I wonder what time on the 15th they will be available, like is it worth checking at midnight, or will they be posted later in the day?

my e-mail has the date too ---- "** Online notification dates: December 15th for Early Action, March 31st for Regular Decision
Thank you for your interest in Yale! We wish you the best of luck in the admissions process."

from what i've heard, decisions will be released at 5 PM.. but that's just what i've heard

i'd say the decisions will be up any time from 1 PM to 6 PM

So it's not worth getting up early to check scores before going to school, or is 5 PM just a rumor?

There's something witihin me that still feels like they will come out the week prior to the 15th.

Penn is apparently getting theirs the week before, as is Brown, and apparently someone at the Columbia forum called and found out it was coming out "before the 15th." I feel like the date on that blue letter was the date they just tell everyone until they come out with a definitive date before that (because all colleges MUST notify people on/before the 15th).

I could be wrong... but hopefully I'm right.

Eh, if I may speculate, I would still say it will come out on the 15th. The 15th is a Monday, and the business day before that is Friday, the 12th, which is not a likely day for decision to come out on (too early.) I would hedge my bets on the 15th because Yale also indicated in the e-mail that results would come out that day, but of course it would be nicer to find out sooner. :P

Now, the only question is the time of the day...

i check it every day in the evening anyway, so if they do post it earlier, i'll see it.. but i think it'll still be on the 15th

^^ "The 15th is a Monday, and the business day before that is Friday, the 12th, which is not a likely day for decision to come out on (too early.)"

i agree

but if you think about it:

the committees probably don't meet on the weekends, so there's no reason why they couldn't sent it out on friday as opposed to monday. If they really do operate on a business-days only schedule, then the difference of one business day is going to matter VERY little. There was one year when the Columbia ED decisions came out in the second week of december....

these people are working around the clock aren't they? taking off weekends would be strange.

alas, we'll never know...

(though i guess we could ask should we happen to come across one in el futuro)

Isn't Yale like infamous for being the last Ivy every god damn year?

When in doubt, proceed to mentally mutilate yourself with a pair of scissors hereby known as "Schoolwork" and "College Apps". Once the pain threshold has been reached to the point that any more pain would result in a mental breakdown with a total energy output akin to that of a 10 km meteor striking the earth right now, proceed to stop and check your Yale application status.

Proceed mutilation if no Bulldogs dance. You may cease if Bulldogs do dance.

Seriously though, Yale will probably come out on the 15th. Although they might leave a better impression in the student's mind if they come out earlier, I doubt they'll bend from the date they already set.

^ "schoolwork" and "college apps" are a slow killer, only taking effect over days, if not weeks. If you want faster results, please go through the volume of "The Critique of Pure Reason" by Immanuel Kant, as I am trying now. Mental mutilation is guaranteed within the first 100 pages! (If you want even faster results, please try the original Prussian version of the book! Don't know 18th-century Prussian? No problem! )

I'm actually contemplating of doing this to numb myself from whatever result I get that day. I hope they come out faster than 5pm though, because the wait between getting home from school and results would literally drive me crazy.

I actually heard from someone that the decisions would be ready the morning of the 15th that doesn't mean that you all would get them at that time but it may.

^ All the more reason to mutilate yourself with? iono.

^___________^

We should start a humor thread where people just talk about all the outrageous (and totally false) things that they'd do if not accepted.
