Wait list: A chance for hope or an interlude before rejection?

What do you think it is?

Colleges that waitlist you will never officially reject you. They just eventually tell you that they have finished admissions and will not be taking anyone else off the waitlist. For most highly selective colleges there is little chance of being accepted from the waitlist.

anyone know the chancesof getting off the waitlist at american or tulane

tiff90, my daughter just sent her decline in to American. I don’t know if they wait until 5/1, but hopefully, those students who know for sure a college is off their list, will notify asap. then waitlisters can get their good news.

check the common datasets for these school. In section C it will give the complete breakdown of admission stat, incl. # offered a spot on WL, # who took a spot on WL, & # accepted from WL. There is quite a bit of variability from year to year, so you way want to check older common datasets as well.

thanks. where can you find the common datasets? i know tulanes matriculation was only 11% last year.
