Wait List Acceptance Rate

I can not find this information anywhere:

What is the average acceptance rate for waitlisted students?

lol well seeing this is the 1st year they even have a wait list
…

Wow. My friend told me her sister was on the UT waitlist last year. I think she might have gotten confused with being CAP’d.

Even if there’s no numbers to go by, does anyone have any ideas?

good luck though! have you also signed the cap agreement? what were your stats?

Last year was the first year they used a waitist.

there can’t be any statistics since waitlist differs so much from year to year. It depends on how many accepted students decide to enroll.

yea i would say you have a decent shot at getting in, but i would still keep my other options open

I got accepted off the wait list last year. We had 250 people on it. I think a lot of them got in. You can search the old threads and see that many of us said we got in. I think the thread’s called “Put on the wait list”

Stats:

I’m homeschooled so all official grades come from colleges and community colleges:

ACC: 22 hours (4.0)

St. Edwards: 12 hours- Calc 1, 2, and 3; Diff. Equations (3.25- grading is really tough)

CLEP: Spanish
AP: English Composition- 4 (without even taking an AP class)

SAT: 2170 (M: 740, CR: 670, W: 760)
2100 (M: 790, CR: 630, W: 690)

Lots of volunteer hours and ECs.

I do have a high school transcript from classes I took out of the home. All of these classes were of high school level and all gave a legitimate grade at the end of the semester. I have a 4.0 for all of these classes.

I submitted 7 letters of recommendation some of which came from ACC faculty who also teach at UT.

I will have 53 hours at the end of this semester so I’ll try to transfer as well (I’m speaking to a counselor tomorrow to see if that’s possible considering I’m on the waitlist.)

My essays were very strong and were reviewd by my parents and teachers before being submitted.

One side of me is shocked that I wasn’t immediately accepted but another side of me is grateful I wasn’t immediately rejected. There are some people on the UT forum who have admittedly better scores than me. I was hoping the amount of college credit and my unique background (homeschooling) would give me an advantage.

Did you end up getting accepted? I was waitlisted this year too and it was my top choice
:(

ak777, jefeathe was accepted - I looked at his/her later posts.

My son was also wiatlisted this year and I have searched high and low for any stats. I found the 2009 data which shows that 205 were waitlisted. Out of these 165 accepted to be on the waitlist and ALL of them were eventually accepted. Last year’s data hasn’t come out yet but around 200 were also waitlisted. I am wondering why this year they went up to 450. I hope this doesn’t make it harder to get in as they are supposedly using the “holistic approach” to evaluate this group. My son had much better stats then schoolmates of his but still got on the waitlist.

Yeah I know a couple of people who were ranked lower than me but still got accepted  I don’t know. I’m praying for acceptance because I really love this school.
