wait-list acceptances

I think there is nothing wrong with calling with WL questions. The admissions people are very nice. And if you happen to get a grumpy person, I highly doubt that person can put a black mark on your application.

I’m feeling pretty indifferent now. Anyone else feel similar? If they called me now I could barely feign excitement lol

gosh im starting to feel very indifferent now too :frowning: im no longer hoping as hard as i was previously i think all the excitement/anticipation/hope has left me numb

@computergeek173 I agree that the material you sent probably won’t hurt and may help.

they discuss the waitlist here

[Yield falls to 56.9 percent for Class of 2014 - The Daily Princetonian](http://www.dailyprincetonian.com/2010/05/27/26181/)

damn.

“While there are still 867 students currently on the waitlist, Rapelye said she is unsure whether the University will offer admission to any more of them. Last year, the Office of Admission offered places in the incoming class to waitlisted students in two rounds. This year, it will close the waitlist on June 30.”

Well, at least there’ll be closure before too much longer. I would REALLY, REALLY like for my daughter to get a phone call to Princeton, though. We’re still holding out a tiny bit of hope.

we have over a month left how is that not long enough? :(

aww man i did NOT see that article
well i think thats closure enough :frowning:
haha it was helpful going through this with all of you though!
<3

adaa i couldnt agree more.

good luck to everyone out there. wherever we end up, things will work out somehow or the other. it was nice sharing this experience with you guys. =)

well guys this is me saying goodbye. like cadillac and sharts05, i’ve been feeling indifferent for a while. Even if I got in, I don’t think I would be excited. And well June 1st is the deadline for UChicago’s housing so this is my adieu Princeton, and University of Chicago, here I come.

I found an interesting and enlightening discussion of the Daily Princetonian article here: http://■■■■■■■.com/3xk8ku7</a>. I had to use a ■■■■■■■ link because College Confidential apparently will not let me post a URL from a competing website.

keephopealive thank you for posting that. what do you think, will they be accepting more? Im not getting my hopes up…

p.s: i feel as if your user/screen name is trying to tell me something but im afraid of being dissapointed! if you dont mind me asking, im curious as to what prompted you to select that particular username?

@sharts05: I really don’t know whether they’ll accept any more people from the WL. I think it may depend on whether people currently committed to Princeton get picked off by Harvard, Yale or Stanford in the coming days. But I chose the username “KeepHopeAlive” for precisely the reason you guessed: I’m trying to keep my own hope alive that my son will receive the call he has been hoping to receive from Princeton. Princeton has been his dream for many years.

My understanding of hope is shaped by the discussion of hope in the Bible. Hope is not the same as certainty or faith, and we may not receive what we hope for, but hope is good for our character, and it cannot disappoint us if we see it in that way (see Romans 5:3-5, for example). I first heard the phrase “Keep hope alive” in an inspiring speech by Jesse Jackson that I heard 20 years ago at a moment when many in the black community were struggling with despair.

In line with the discussion of hope, I hope this doesn’t give false hope, but I found out on Friday that my deferral was accepted! I think that means at least one spot remains (if they haven’t already filled it). I’m really pulling for you guys!

@iluv11alot: Thanks for letting us know. We appreciate your doing so, and it’s good news. Let’s hope they do decide to fill that slot with one of the outstanding people in our little online community.

Illuv1…Hope I’m not being too nosey, but why are you wanting to take a gap year?

fyi…

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/princeton-university/936637-more-waitlist-offers-come.html</a></p>

@KeepHopeAlive – They will if they know what’s best for them; this is a great group!

@jc40 – No, not at all. I’m a modern orthodox Jew, and a decent amount of modern orthodox Jews (at least where I’m from) choose to spend a year in Israel before college. Personally, I’m doing it partly to take a break from school, but also to learn a lot more about my religion and its background. I’ll be doing a 9 month program where most of the day is learning a variety of texts. It doesn’t exactly sound like fun in writing, but it’s generally a fun, educational experience. Feel free to ask if you have any more questions.

Mrs. College, how do u know that the post you just posted is a credible source. On thursday, the dean of admissions said that he doesn’t know if any more students will accepted, so it seems sort of silly that the next day he’ll decide that he’s accepting a few dozen additional students. And they couldn’t have done it over the weekend because it is both a holiday and admissions doesn’t work on weekends.
