who else was not offered admission after recieving a likely letter? this is really devastating as i had really gotten my hopes up to go. Dean J is there any possible explanation for this? I mean after the likely letter I got additional positive correspondence from UVa

that really sucks... ironically (and sadly), this scenario fits well with your name

You can try contacting the Admissions Office and asking around.

OMG...I'm sorry. I was really scared of the same thing because I got my first C in Calculus (no wonder it starts with C) during the winter semester of senior year. I explained what happened on my MYR and how I would improve (currently have a 92).

That actually happens? WOW. I was under the impression that that whole scenario was really unlikely. :( I'm so sorry to hear that.

i was actually upset b/c i got a likely letter and was hoping for echols (how many likelies did they send?). that would be the only thing that would allow me to persuade my parents to let me go there :(

I'm really sorry to hear that :(

best of luck wherever you choose to attend though, some school will be extremely lucky to have you!

I hate to be a downer, but its possible that the likely letter was accidentally sent to you (or vice versa, hopefully vice versa for your sake! )

I got a mistakenly sent thing from the Financial Aid Office recently. It had my name on it, but the student id number was wrong, and the address on the letter inside was on some road in virginia that doesn't even exist, at least according to Google Maps. When I called financial aid they said that nothing was wrong with my app. If they could get information that screwed up in financial aid, why not in admissions?

Yea I got what some called a "likely letter." It was from SEAS and it was saying I was one of their "strongest applicants" and whatnot. I'm so confused now, why would they send that letter and that material when they don't mean it?
