Did Cornell ever admit students in the summer? Cuz I remember reading somewhere that they will have to finalize everything latest by late June as courtesy to other colleges. But bleh, I hope Cornell at least keeps like an extended wait list thing over the summer like Stanford and MIT.

I think most places keep some type of waiting list until the end of summer just in case anything happens. I think they try to get things squared away by end of June, but, things can still change past then. I read in another thread about a kid who got off the Cornell waitlist in mid-July.

Has CCer gotten into CALS from the waitlist? I've only seen Hotel Admin post here??

have they released the numbers on how many kids are on the waitlist?

From the Cornell Chronicle Cornell Chronicle: Record number of applications to Cornell
For 2008 "A total of 3,432 students were offered a place on the waitlist"

That's the highest number offered a place on the waitlist yet!!

They don't break out the Wait List by college at Cornell so it really comes down to what spots they need to fill in which college.
The following link is to a report on Undergraduate Enrollment http://dpb.cornell.edu/documents/1000397.pdf
It notes that the University is committed to a class size of 3050 students and that they plan to use the wait list to get up to that number.

how many did cornell accept ED this year?

More waiting again? Jeez waitlist really is like purgatory.

Cornell will likely start accepting a good number of people soon.
I know of quite a few people who gave up their spots at Cornell once accepted off the Duke waiting list, so I think there will be some good news soon.

Around 1100 were accepted ED, I believe.

Mondo -- Cornell is apparently already over-enrolled, so don't place any money on it. I doubt "quite a few" is more than 5-8 kids.

^for sure, i'm definitely not holding my breath.

How does Cornell pick ppl off waitlists? Does it doing by quotas? Like if someone from Massachusetts decides to go to Harvard instead, it'll look through all the waitlisted ppl from Massachusetts and then pick one to refill the spot? Or does Cornell go through all its waitlisted ppl and rank them?

Can you repeal Cornell's decision after it rejects you after placing you on the waitlist? When Cornell Engineering waitlisted me, it didn't have my most updated grades. Should I request to repeal the decision? Or should I remain on the waitlist?

And when's Cornell sending that mid-June update email?

Because of a massive problem with all of Cornell's e-mail servers it might be just a little while longer before you get your update e-mail.

June is almost over and I still haven't gotten any updates. ;_;

I was one of those 18 people in 2006, so keep the faith.

you were on the waitlist tun? i'm glad you got in or i woulda never met you :P

Tun, when did u get off the waitlist?

April 28th.
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/cornell-university/182764-just-got-off-waitlist.html

Cornell sure is taking their sweet time with the waitlist.

Wow, April 28, that's very very early. XD Compared to like this year...July 1, Cornell barely using its waitlist. O well, I kinda lost hope by now, I mean, School of Engineering, that's like the least likely to go to its waitlist out of all schools...

Lol, I applied to School of Engineering also. It seems like everybody else on CC gave up on the Cornell waitlist.
