My guess is that they're filtering out the applicants' responses. (Some students not going there may have neglected to submit their intention by May 1.) The school needs to have a handle on the number of students it accepted who have decided not to attend. Have you contacted W&M to indicate that you'll definitely attend if taken off the wait list? Good luck to you!

any1 called admis to ask when will start?

Will W&M be going to their wait list? In-state or OOS?

I just called, and the gentleman told me that as of today, they have not made a decision on whether they will need to go to the waitlist. He said that people will hear by June 15, as it states in the letter. Personally, I think if they decide to go to the waitlist, people will start hearing sooner than that.

has anyone heard anything on the waitlist???

Nothing here yet. Why don't you call? It's been a week since I called.

IMO, W&M has been the "hot" VA state school this year. Has anyone found out how many students are on the waitlist? There will probably be very few openings, but those who have chosen not to attend may have been late in responding to the college, or may have neglected to respond altogether. I don't know at what point W&M just drops these applicants or contacts them to ask if they're attending or not. This is an issue about which someone may want to contact W&M....In the meantime, be sure you've placed a deposit with another school.

The 2006-2007 CDS is here...I think that's last year's info not this year but I don't know really how that works. It already says how many were accepted off the waitlist so that's why I assume it's last year's info...but it will probably be relatively similar this year.

Number accepting place on waiting list: 1119
Number of waitlisted students admitted: 14
Is your waiting list ranked? NO

wow.. the odds are agaist me on getting in to W&M based on those figures..

I think it's similar at many schools. Daughter was on four waitlists. Two of the schools have already closed their lists.

Those who are on the wait list, what are your stats? It will help me out. Thanks.

At this point, it doesn't really matter what your stats are. What matters is what niche you fill for the school. If you're from an underrepresented state, for instance, that might be good. Or maybe if you're in-state, if that's what the school needs to maintain the 65-35 ratio. Or if you're a guy and the school is short on males. It all depends what the school needs, and we're not privvy to that information.

W&M called me today! But I wasn't home!

This has made my MONTH.

I'm so ecstatic right now. I'm about to call them back!

I emailed today to take my name off the waitlist. Good luck to everyone else.

Nolan,
I assume you are a male?? InState or Out.. If out, what state??

in-state male.

Good for you, Nolan! You're a smart kid. Will you go there now instead of VT? Good luck to you!

^Thank you very much!

Yes, I will be going to W&M.

Congrats! You must be really excited. Nice to see there is some waitlist movement.

We love W & M, but our D has just received word that she has been accepted off a waitlist at first choice school. We will be calling W&M tomorrow to let them know....good luck....perhaps one more place for someone???
