Wait list email?

Hello All!

So while at Chicago Unifieds this week, I received an email from Shenandoah that said something to the effect of “you are still being considered as a prospective Musical Theater Major”, saying they would send final decisions once all auditions have finished. To me, it sounded an awful lot like a wait list, but I was curious if others got this email/what it means? Is it a wait list? Or does it just mean they’ve cut some people and wanted those in the running to still know? Sorry for maybe a stupid question, I’ve been thrown into uncertainty at the waiting which is just beginning for me.

Thanks!

@Monkeiiboy No, it is not a waitlist. We wait until after the final audition day to make decisions. We want to make sure that all students have the same chance rather than a rolling admissions process, which will often put students scheduled for the last audition day at a significant disadvantage. ~ VT

@VoiceTeacher oh okay! Thank you so much for clarifying. I look forward to hearing back from you all!

@Monkeiiboy My S got a rejection email today so it sounds like you are still in the running! Best of luck to you!

Your S got a rejection email? I thought that decisions didn’t come out until the end of auditions in February.

@MReader Yes, my son got an email today: as did another friend of his. I guess they are notifying the students that are no longer being consider…so, it could be good news if you haven’t heard yet. Good luck!

My D also got a rejection email yesterday.

Did your D audition at unifieds or on campus?

@Stevo99 not sure about Mardeen’s daughter, but I have a friend who auditioned for Shenandoah on campus the weekend after unifieds (2/11-2/12) and just got the axe from them yesterday.

I got the same email, maybe the people who have gotten rejections weren’t accepted academically?

Interesting…thank you.

@danralph77 I do not think, in my son’s case, it was academic. He is a very strong student, with a high GPA and above average SAT scores…they must not have found him to be a good fit artistically.

My D was accepted academically but not accepted artistically. In fact, the email encouraged her to contact admissions if she was interested in another major. She auditioned on campus on 2/11.
