Wait List for Cal Poly Kinesiology

I have been wait listed for Cal Poly SLO’s Kinesiology major. I understand over 1400 people applied and 55 were offered admittance. Does anyone have experience with being wait listed for this program? Any idea of how many are on the wait list? Because it is such a well regarded program I would guess most people accept… Does anyone know the rate of acceptance by freshman admitted to the program?

Thank you for any info you can provide.

Sorry, can’t help you with the stats info, but suggest you contact the academic advisers in the department and ask them.
Also, just wondering, what was your second choice major and did you get accepted under that major? If so, and SLO is your first choice, you may want to consider accepting under your second choice and then working towards transferring to kinesiology. They tell you up front you can’t change majors (and certain transfers are pretty tough), but once you get there they let you know you MUST complete at least your first quarter in your major before you can request a transfer. Transfers within the same college are easier than transfers between colleges. Again, would talk to an adviser before making any decisions – but something to consider. Good luck!

Last year during Admitted Students’ Day, the head of the dept. made a point of letting us know that they admitted a very low percentage of applicants to Kinesiology for the class of 2014 (in comparison to how many applied.) She mentioned the number, but I’ve since forgotten.

I don’t know how many actual freshman who were admitted to the program end up accepting their admission. Like LaLew5 said, maybe you can contact someone in the department for information.

Good luck to you!

**Re; Kinesiology:

Does anyone know the rate of acceptance by freshman admitted to the program? **

I believe last year at orientation for Kinesiology they said 56 or 58. So right around the same number for this year.

Thank you for the responses. I asked the admissions department but they can’t / won’t answer any questions about the chances of getting in. I have not heard anything about my second choice. Good thought, I will look into that.
