Wait List for Class of 2017

Brad-if you do end up doing this can you please post what info you find out? I really do love Vanderbilt, but considering my main back up option (where I put down my deposit) is a foreign institution, I really don’t want to be waiting around until June 30th, when my mother has finished all the extensive paperwork required for international students, just to tell her that Vanderbilt finally decided to let engineering students in.

S received “Waitlist Update #3” email last night with request to respond by May 27. Doesn’t sound very promising, and I assume means round 2 is over. Since he has a lot of additional deposits and things to do by June 15 for his enrolled school (housing, dining plan, student ID photo, etc.), I’m sure this is his last round of waiting on a decision from VU.

In hindsight, the whole application process certainly wasn’t what we expected. Don’t know that we’d have done anything differently, except maybe not visit as many schools ahead of time - although you need to do that anymore to “demonstrate” interest. We spent about $4k visiting 5 schools just to be wait listed at 4 (about $8k on all visits). As fate would have it, it is the one and only school we couldn’t visit ahead of time that ends up being where he’ll be attending! But don’t get me wrong, taking some visits ahead of time helped find what he liked and didn’t and helped remove some schools from consideration that we thought were good fits on paper. The downside is that you can fall in love with a school that you then don’t get in to.

FYI - from the Vanderbilt Admissions Blog (on 5/21):

“We have now sent 2 rounds of wait list offers. We are unsure at this point when or if future offers will go out. If you would still like to be considered for admission, please make sure to continue responding to our interest inquiry emails.”

do u guys think thre is a chance at this point?

I desperately hope so, but I can’t deny that I’m not very optimistic anymore.
