My son is on a wait list for housing, so does anyone know how long it takes to hear back about a new housing assignment. He was put in a room with no air conditioning and he could not survive in there very well all year with his allergies. I guess if he doesn't get in on campus then I called Granville and they have room and it would be cheaper too...so we will see. I hope he hears back from Carolina about housing but if there is no room then I guess not.

I would think they can find a spot for him - I know several people who spent the beginning of their semesters “dorm hopping” because their first housing assignments didn’t work for whatever reason. There is more flexibility than people think…

How were you able to tell for sure he did not have air conditioning?

I think all the dorms should have air conditioning. ;)

Nope Ehringhaus will only have air conditioning in 50% of the rooms…

We could tell his room didn’t have air conditioning by the price listed by his room…it is the same price listed on UNC website for a double room without air conditioning.

Call housing and tell them your son has a medical condition and explain the situation. I think there will be some cancellations around July 1st if I remember correctly. That’s the day that if you don’t cancel by, you have to pay a lot more to cancel your housing contract.

Good news, my son has a new housing assignment in Morrison…so this is good news!
