Wait list Money?

Vanderbilt is my number one choice (hence the name vandy3) and I got wait listed. I am very excited that I have another shot! However, a big factor if I can attend is how much financial aid my family receives but i'm not sure we will get any through FAFSA. Does anyone know how much money accepted students have received so far or how generous they are with giving aid to those on the wait list? Thanks!

1) With the exception of merit scholarships, which have already been offered, you are still able to receive financial aid if you are admitted from our waitlist. Likewise, you will be just as able to register for classes, get housing in the Commons, etc., if you are admitted from the waitlist.

That is for 2010. I doubt it has changed for 2011. There is a low probability it may have.

Personally, and from what I have seen from others ( http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/vanderbilt-university/1116268-f-truly-no-loan.html</a> ), you can expect them to meet 100% need through a grant.

Their cost of attendance is around 61k and my EFC was 10k; They gave me 50k in grant money. I had other schools who pledged 100% need but still required loans to get the final cost down to 10k for me.

“you can expect them to meet 100% need through a grant” is technically false.

You can expect them to meet 100% of demonstrated need without loans. Financial aid packages do include work-study. The statistic that is advertised is that on average, for all undergraduates as a whole, grant aid: work study ratio was 97-3.

The work-study is for about 2000-3000 dollars, depending on your year (I believe the work study contribution us supposed to increase slightly as you go from freshman to sophomore to junior etc. - though I could be wrong).

my fin aid package did not include loans (as stated) or work study… it did include my scholarship and the remainder offered was a university grant.

Financial aid CAN include work study, but CANNOT include NEED-BASED LOANS is probably most technically correct.

Thanks everyone! I’m excited to see if I get an offer of admission! Congratulations to everyone who got in :)
