I just received an email notifying me that I was on the wait list for housing, I’m a transfer :(

They had screwed up my application, which I believe hindered my admittance, so I’m pretty upset. Can anyone here give an estimate for how many spots open up, and what Pomona does to accomodate you while you wait for space? It’s not exactly easy to just have a place to stay when you aren’t local, can’t commute (Kind of live in Santa Barbara). Most of the affordable apartments in the area are also located in shoddy areas, and like hell I move in to any of those and sign a lease on my own.

I feel like it was some time in May, and I applied for housing soon after. Paid the deposit on time, everything. My stuff was processed late because they had marked down wrong information concerning my units Had that never been an issue, I doubt it would have been so long.

wth? i thought it is suppose to be first come first served. i applied for housing first week of april and i still got waitlisted. u applied in May and u have a lower number than me.
did u both applied for the suites?

Yeah, it doesn’t make much sense how I have a lower number, I’m almost positive I applied for housing in May, April seems too early(As it took them eons to get admitted, but that’s another story), I’ll need to go back and check my payments.

This is madness how you both applied immediately after it opened and got pushed so far back :(

I got wait-listed for the residence halls. I’m behind 249 others. What am I going to do?

I am either going to draft an e-mail or outline what I want to talk to them about on Monday and if they can’t help me get into on-campus housing hopefully they can recommend apartments nearby. I would specifically want to know how fast the wait-list moves…

If I can’t find a place, I can’t go to Cal Poly. I don’t own a vehicle. I live over 2 hours away. This is kind of disappointing after I enjoyed orientation today.

i think im gonna wait before looking for apartments. we still have 2 months before move in date and start of school. a lot can happen in 2 months.

i also cant drive to pomona. its a 45 min drive, without traffic. but the last time i went there it was traffic and it took me 2 hours. it is also hard to find parking.

Yeah, I couldn’t get into the suites for some strange reason. Yeah, I’m a transfer student. I’ve been looking at apartments just in case. Does anyone know if they have buses running to the school? 'Cause I’ve considered buying a bike if I get an apartment to get there if it’s 2 miles or so away. I kinda hate that commuterish feel, though. When the orientation leaders asked how many people commute, 90% rose their hands. Definitely going to call them though cause I want that “college experience” and don’t want to travel either on foot or by bike every day to get to the campus. The math building felt like I was climbing up to a mini Mount Everest to get there, lol.

I think the waiting list is just so depressing. Its like everyone at once found out how they can’t live on campus like they had planned to all year. I applied for housing on march 11 and I got wait listed number 150. Idk how that happen but Yeah I already found an off campus apartment in phillips ranch. It theres any girls on here interested in getting an off campus apartment feel free to hit me up! I think it just sucks how they don’t have room for everyone. :/

Yes and no on that, it really depends on where you live, and the plan you signed up for. To get a place off campus for me(No roomates, etc), it would actually be a little pricier. The areas that do offer cheap apartments are super sketchy, and that’s just not gonna cut it for me.

If I anything, I would be on campus for a year, learn more about the area, and then consider moving off campus.
