Wait List Possibilities?

Now that acceptances should all be in, does anyone have any information as to whether there will be any slots for waitlisted applicants? Thanks.

Has any one been accepted from waitlist? If you did, are you going to go?

im waitlisted as well… so i guess we have no choice but to wait

Waitlisted… is Carleton your first choice?

For me, YES

but frankly im willing to go wherever accepts me…i dont really think i’ll really have luxury of choosing when it comes to my waitlist schools

Yes to me, too.

oh, how long will it take anymore. I’m so nervous. TT.TT

Do we know how many are on the wait-list? How many they took last year?

what are the other schools that you’re waiting to hear from/might attend?

Waitlists= Agony.

According to several sources, Carleton accepted 8 students off the waitlist last year…eek that’s a small number!

However, this year the economy might have a say in college decisions, and perhaps some people will decline their offers for more expensive schools in order to save money. Anyone agree/disagree?

I don’t mean to be discouraging but this year the expensive schools thought that they might see more of their accepted applicants decline their offers, hence the huge waiting lists. In actuality the yields this year turned out to be the similar to what they have been in previous years. Either families made financial decisions before the application process or people are still managing to find the money. The reason Harvard is taking 100 from their waiting list this year is because they accepted a conservative number of students. The schools statistical models are surprisingly accurate at predicting how many students will matriculate but I have not heard anything specific about Carleton.

I got a letter today saying that they’re not taking anybody off of the waitlist…

oh, I see…

:( can we all have a party to eat ice cream and watch sad movies? because i feel like that is the proper response to something like this.

weird. I got no such letter. Did any one else?

i didn’t get it either. but i was wondering if it just hadn’t come to me yet because of location? maybe that other person lives closer to minnesota. i don’t know…

I live in Washington state…it was postmarked May 14. Weird =/

ok yes i got it today. weird because i live in arizona…

Got a letter dated May 14 asking if I’m willing to stay on their extended waitlist. Letter says the chance they’ll go to the WL is till very slim, but there might be some summer melt,so…

bcash, if you’re interested in staying on the WL, I think I’d call just to check it out and get more info.

Anyone still on the extended waitlist? Just curious.

My son who was on the extended waitlist, just got a letter saying that he should finalize plans to attend another college; they won’t have a spot for him. He was told he can apply as a transfer, but I think that is very unlikely to happen.
