Hehe, I guess I'm not getting off the waitlist then. Oh well...
Haha guess I'm not going to school with you brooke, I think we myspace messaged each other once.

WESLEYAN 2010!!! WOOT!!!
I'm so glad I loved all the school's I applied to, and getting into the 'scholars' program at wesleyan didn't hurt either :-)

Jerry Doyle is Nebraska's adcom

so is overnighting a letter on monday absolutely pointless or still worth a shot?

I am sorry to tell you this david06 but overnighting a letter to the admissions office on Monday would be pointless. I think you should have sent a letter right after you have received your decision. Sending a letter right now would seem like you are desparate instead of having an interest in UChicago. I am pretty sure Chicago has already ranked their waitlisted students, even though they say they do not. However, if you really want to send a letter, choose to do so; no body is stopping you. Just keep your fingers crossed!! And guess what? We are one day closer to getting our decisions!! Don't lose your hope!!

they've ranked their wait listed applicants at this point?

Interesting..

I have gathered that I will have to wait a long time for my decision..
Is it possible to be taken off the wait list as late as July?

I've heard stories of people being taken off the waitlist a week before they were supposed to move into their non UofC college

My uncle, who did not attend the U. of C., by the way, was taken off a list a few days before the school started. I believe that was for Business School, though, but I'm not sure. . .

david06,
I don't think it would hurt - and $15 isn't that much in the grand scheme of things. Last year, I seem to remember that someone's son or daughter got in pretty last year - end of July, I think. It sounds like there may be fewer spots this year, but it may not be * totally * over in the next couple of weeks.

ridethecliche -
I am very glad to hear that you have your Wesleyan acceptance - its a fabulous school, and I think it will suit you very well (if the chicago waitlist gods are unkind!).

I sent like 7 pages long statement covering all parts :(
ugh.. I wish I could get in.

But I'll still be happy at Stern.

Of course, there's no doubt that I'll apply to chicago again for my grad school lol.

Thanks Ohio_mom, I think it's a better school for me. I've already made friends there from the visitation day and I've already started talking to everyone. Ack! I'm in love with the place haha.

I honestly don't know what i'll do if i get into chicago. I'll be torn all over again, but now after getting deferred, waitlisted, and then accepting somewhere else. I just don't know what i'd do...

Then again, I kind of gave up and didn't send any additional recs or letters. It didn't make any difference earlier.

I want to call the admissions office, but when I tried to call my regional counselor, she wasn't there (I left a message). Should I be calling my regional counselor, or is there a better person to call?

just try admissions in general, 773-702-8650 and ask for your admissions status- that might work

dressup -
call admissions and ask if there would be a good time to try to get a call through to her. And good luck!

strange..I just called up admissions and they told me that haven't taken ANYONE off of the waitlist and they have yet to look at waitlisted students, (currently they are dealing with transfer students). The lady stated that waitlisted students would not be evaluated until the end of the month and from there on decisions will be made on who will be accepted.

really, xindianx? That's strange, indeed, considering people have already posted online claiming to have been taken off. Furthermore, ADCOMs have told people that they start evaluating in early May.

College admissions offices are so boggling. No one knows what they are up to at any given time. I understand the importance of secrecy in admissions but there is a fine line between secrecy and deception. Truly, anyone on CC who speaks on behalf of the admissions office is engaging in mere speculation. Perhaps that's the way it should be..shrugs

Yeah, that's weird, cause I called my admissions counselor today and she said they currently weren't taking anyone (any more? not sure if they really have taken people already) but they might if people withdraw who were waitlisted at other schools.

But hey, she knew who I was! So maybe that's a good thing, that she knows how interested I am.

Great, let's all get together and analyze the words "currently [aren't] taking anyone."

well, on the one hand, it could mean that its too early to tell whether they will need to take anyone, which would be supported by what a lady at admissions told me when I called Friday asking about enrollment: that it was too early to tell.

On the other, it could mean that they aren't taking anyone at all this year.

Indeed, the key word here is "currently". Did she mean at this moment, or this year.

It's wishful thinking, but I'm leaning toward the former.

and on the third hand (yes, I can count) it could mean that dressupandxdance is right in thinking that they have finished admitting off the waitlist and are not admitting any more.
