<p>Hello everyone. Just a few days ago my friend (who was on the waitlist) received a letter saying he was accepted. This concerns me (this school is one of my top choices) because shouldnt all of the waitlisted kids hear after May 1st. Does this mean that many accepted students declined their offer of admission? What does this mean?</p>
<p>I imagine it means their yield is looking like it will be much lower than predicted and that they want to lock down competitive waitlistees before they commit to other schools. But I too am a bit confused by that.</p>

<p>Maybe they wanted students that had some quality that he did, and all the accepted students that had that quality declined.</p>
