Would it be better for me if I tell the college that I am waitlisted at that I will not need any financial aid?

It really depends on your situation, if you have tons of money and paying for college is not a problem even if it's 35k+ + loans then telling a college you will not need financial aid will be beneficial. But understand many top tier colleges are need-blind in admissions, meaning whether you are waitlisted or not, if they feel you should be accepted money, will not be an issue at all. However, for colleges that are not need-blind and you are waitlisted, financial aid may be a factor in admitting you (that's where you could say you don't need any aid, but this is all considering you REALLY don't need any aid). If you want my honest opinion, don't tell anyone you don't need aid because spending 200k + interest in loans just for a higher prestige college seriously will not benefit you in the future, think about it logically.
