wait list spots

Who is accepting a spot on the waitlist and if you are how does Emory rank on your list?

I am going on the waitlist and it is my top choice

I just recieved my wait list notice today and I will be placing my name on the list. Its probably my second, third choice right now. I was waitlisted at my first choice Claremont Mckenna and deffered from Umich, so I basically have to wait it out. Does anyone have any clue what the chances are of being taken off the wait list

There's some more info about the waitlist here: http://www.emory.edu/ADMISSIONS/waitlist-students/waitlist-student-info.htm Good Luck!

Emory admissions was weird this year. I live in GA and a few of my friends applied Early Decision and through Emory Scholars. All of them got accepted. I applied RD and have roughly the same if not better credentials academically and extracurricularly than them and got wait listed. I called Emory to ask them specifics about the wait list and they said they received a TON of applications this year- 20% more or 2000 more applications. I think everyone would have had a better chance if they applied early because Emory apparently accepted a lot of people or the same amount as in the past early; I don't think they anticipated as many to apply that did.

The reason ED acceptance is so high is because of the Emory Scholars deadline on November 1. Scholars have really high numbers across the board, so being nominated to be a scholar would pretty much guarantee you admission, I should think.

Early decision doesn't have anything to do with Scholars. You certainly don't have to be nominated in order to apply early...even though many people may have been. You can become an Emory Scholar by being accepted early time-wise but you aren't necessary a part of the binding Early Decision plan unless you happened to of applied for that as well. You also can be accepted ED without becomming a scholar.

Right, but the Emory Scholar deadline is the same time as the ED deadline. Sorry for the lack of clarity. :-)
