Wait-list Statistics at Yale?

Congrats! Do they call on Saturdays?

AHHHH i just got the call! i thought miracles didn’t happen to me…

sigh looks like it won’t be me this year…

A lot of people seem to be getting off the Yale Waitlist…

does anyone know what day we have to reply by? the reply page still says May 1st. and i forgot to ask.

yeah yield must have been low this year.

haha, for some reason that makes NOT getting a call feel worse :(

It looks like a similar situation with Princeton. Stanford must have cleaned clocks this year.

My son is from Crestview, Florida and got the call today Saturday, May 8th at 4:15pm central standard time. He is sooooooo excited! First student ever to be accepted by an IVY League from our home town!

^Congratulations to you and your son, SeriasB! Yale is a fantastic experience that will stay with him always.

Stanford’s yield is the highest ever apparently…

My daughter got the call today Saturday around 2pm from her admissions officer, her status will be updated Monday to reflect “admitted” on her eli account. Congrats to all! Good Luck to all!

Congrats… to all Yalies…

When do they reject people?

seadog.overseas - You’re likely to hear good news sooner than bad news. Some people have already been admitted from the waitlist. Last year, when they took only 7 people from a list that began with 770, the last rejection letters were mailed around June 30 – http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/yale-university/708819-official-2013-yale-waitlist-thread-6.html</a>.

They’re starting sooner this year so they’ll probably take more, but it may drag out about as long because Yale will protect itself against June melt.

@collegep - we have until May 19th (at least that’s what my regional Yale admissions officer told me…)

Congrats to the people who got in! Can you guys post your stats and the measures you guys took to get off the waitlist? Thanks!

My daughter got the call as we walked into the restaurant yesterday for our Mother’s Day celebration. Made for some interesting table conversation. She had a really, really hard time on May 1 choosing between Harvard and Columbia and was just getting into the forms, pictures etc. that she needed to fill out and provide for Harvard and being enthusiastic about next year. I am happy for her about Yale because she is happy, but I have to admit I do dread the thought of switching gears. Not sure how this will play out.

xmintyfresh: She actually had just gotten around to working on a supplement yesterday, but had not sent it in, so a supplement is not the determining factor.

Hm. I find it odd how the Common Data Set for Yale hasn’t been updated to reflect this year’s information yet. Last year, the information was up on May 8th. I think just knowing the number of spots they have open (roughly) would be reassuring to a lot of us waitlistees.

Does anyone think it’s possible to still get a call from Yale? Or will we waitlistees only still have a shot if someone who was accepted off the wait list rejects the offer?
