About to send mine in. How long did all of yours end up being? I barely made it in the one page even though I tried keeping things concise.
it had to be one page?? oh nooooooo
mine was a full 2 pages… although i certainly wasnt rambling or trying to take up space… lots of content (“updates”)
dyou think theyll really count in negatively?
also, whens the earliest possible date of notification, dya think?
@ggwpafk823 They probably won’t care if its good writing. I spent almost all of yesterday cutting mine down from 2 pages to 1, we’ll see.
Did you guys do anything special though, like send in a resume, make a phone call, or anything like that? Literally all I did was email the letter.
I sent in a semi sarcastic letter (but it had all the necessary serious parts as well). I don’t think doing anything else will actually boost your chances.
wait… they wont care if its good writing? Or they wont care that its 2 pages long if its good writing? @KtopSpin
@ggwpafk823 the Columbia waitlist letter (the one on the portal) recommends that you submit a ‘brief’ supplementary statement’ and says about one page max.
have you guys also reserved a place somewhere else?
Yeah, I sent a deposit to UPenn.
@Ilikeice yeah i did too. what are you doing about housing? Penn charge like $800 if you pull out of you cancel your app
Lol, haven’t submitted my housing application yet. And I guess I’ll worry about the money if/when I get off of the waitlist.
@likeice are you at the SEAS program in Upenn?
No, I applied to Arts and Sciences.
any one have any news? any information from admissions? please share
Probably a bit too early for any major news. The WL decision letter stated: “If places in the class do become available, we typically notify candidates no earlier than May 15 and no later than July 1,” so that’s what I’m riding on. Would be nice to know yield stats soon though.
My regional admissions officer kindly let me know that Columbia will begin releasing waitlist decisions at the end of next week.
July 1st! Quite a wait! D: I’m not counting on anything anymore though haha. Good luck to everyone who’s in the same situation as I am!
Did you initiate the contact or vice versa?
My regional officer never replied so just sent an email to Jessica…
I sent mine to ugrad-confirm@columbia.edu, and haven’t received any response. Should I be worried or send it to someone else?
i sent mine to ugrad-confirm@columbia.edu and to my regional officer who emailed me back within the hour saying that my letter had been added to my file.
You guys think we’ll hear back friday?
