Wait list

Anybody make it in off the wait list?

D was contacted earlier this week and offered a spot in the freshman class. She turned it down. So, they are starting to open up their waitlist.

How was she contacted?

I’m anxious to know how she was contacted as well. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Admissions counselor left a message on our phone answering machine and then sent an e-mail.

Received a call from Dean Villanueva last Friday 5PM and asked for decision by Monday afternoon. Daughter is very excited and will attend.

My daughter received a call yesterday afternoon from the Admissions Office. A bit “odd”. Asking her all kinds of questions regarding her “commitment” to coming off the wl at Richmond. It appeared to be kind of a “screening call”! They did not offer her a place in the class of 2015…but asked her if she still wanted to attend.??? And then gave her until this morning to get back to them. What is that all about??? She was offered admission off the wl at a college that is a better “fit” for her for many reasons. The whole college application/acceptance process has been frustrating, puzzling, and somewhat random…Good luck to those still waiting to hear from Richmond.

@Sailgal33 - That DOES sound weird. I think admissions offices specialize in peculiar communication. Did your daughter confirm her desire to remain on UR’s waitlist? If she didn’t, perhaps they were just checking in on that status.

My D received the same call last week. We thought it would be an offer, however it was an inquiry as to how interested she was in U Richmond. She was asked to call the following morning to confirm. She did and following that she received a call with a offer. She has accepted and we are thrilled!

Yes…she had confirmed that she wanted to remain on the list immediately after she was wl’d. She also emailed her “local” admission rep. In contrast, she was taken off of another another wl, “Congratulations” communication, a personal letter from the Director of Admission followed, and an invitation to re-visit the campus. …no “pre screening” call, to gauge her chances of saying “yes”. The way Richmond does it may be more common place than I am aware. The rep from RIchmond was very pleasant, it was just surprising to my daughter that she wasn’t being offered admission. Her “take” on it was…“so I have to wait again to find out if I am worthy?”…I have to say, I agreed with her.
