wait list..

anyone else got wait listed???

There’s a wait list this year?! I don’t know anyone who got wait listed, only CAPed or accepted.

I got wait-listed as well, sucks that we’ll have to wait until May to hear. What are your plans? Also, do you know if we can send in an appeal from the waitlist in hopes of getting accepted?

to warlock 46: My plan b is CAP at uta. Idk about the appeal process for the wait listed, but i think we are allowed to. I am going to ask about it this week.

My plan B is either CAP at UTA or Texas A&M. I have yet to decide, I’m going to ask about the appeal process as well. I was thinking since i have about 20 hours in AP credits, that I can do 1 semester at A&M, then transfer with about 35 hours to UT, which would be the quickest route to UT.

yeah i also got offers at texas a&m and baylor, but i just want to get to ut as easily as possible. I just hope that us wait listed applicants get in…

I agree man, I can’t wait until May… so far away.

I just called them today, apparently wait listed applicants can’t appeal.

I called them as well, and the guy I called said we can appeal, although there are VERY slim chances of it being accepted.

Also, btw, what major are you waitlisted for? I am waitlisted for Geosciences.

that’s strange, the lady i talked to said we are not allowed because we are already consider for admission. I’m waitlisted for biology.

Bump!!
who else got wait listed??

Just an FYI @warlock46,

Odds are - unless you are prepared to take semester off in the spring - you will have to do a year at A&M before transferring. I had the same plans as yourself.
UT will not consider your transfer application until you meet their 30 hour requirement (i.e. complete your semester at A&M). By the time A&M sends your final transcript and it is received by admissions the review isn’t likely to happen until sometime in mid to early January. In addition, the transfer admissions review process gives precedence to applicants who already meet basic admissions criteria at the applications deadline (in October), so that may make it more difficult to be admitted.
Just information for your consideration in transfer vs. CAP.

Question for those of you who are wait listed. My D is wait listed but we did not see if it was for her 1st or 2nd choice. Do you know for which major you are wait listed? Warlock46 you mentioned you were wait listed for geosciences. Where did you get the information? It was not in the letter or on the web site to accept the wait list.

sorry if this is a bit late…
Dadof2012D, the major can be seen on the Mystatus, admission page.

Thanks for the reply uthookem. I hope you are correct. I cannot convince my D on this. She believes the major listed on her mystatus page is just listing her 1st choice.

She then had me read this fAQ from the FAQs at be a longhorn waitlist questions.

If I’m admitted off the waitlist what major will I be admitted to?

“It isn’t possible to know which spaces in the entering class might open up, so it also isn’t possible to know which majors might be offered to an individual wait-listed student who is admitted. Decisions about how spaces will be filled are determined as they become available.”

So, we wait until May 15th.

Yep, about a month and a half until we hear our fate. I personally think this year’s wait listed applicants have a good shot in getting in (based on previous year’s numbers).
