orasool: were you waitlisted? No. Then why are you even posting on this thread? We know our chances. We're not stupid. This is just a hobby.

loll what I can't post just cause I was accepted?? huurmphh....its my hobby too you know :P. But hey good luck, I sincerely hope you get off the waitlist

Orasool, I would turn down Columbia for Amherst, in the insanely unlikely event that I get off the waitlist, for a few reasons. There are, of course, the benefits of the liberal arts school as opposed to the research university. Also, I'm from NY, so the city doesn't really hold that much appeal to me, and I'd definitely prefer a "rural" environment to an urban one. I'm just tired of NY and I never really wanted to stay close to home. I also kind of think the core is a little pretentious, and much prefer Amherst's open curriculum. Lastly, Amherst just "felt" more like where I'd want to be.

...but that's not to say I'm not ridiculously excited for Columbia in September, anyway. I really hope that last post didn't sound like I was stuck-up and unhappy to be going there :/

Peugot, i totally understood why you wouldn't want to go to a college thats right in the city you've been living your entire life, its totally understandable...for me, NYC is an adventure because coming from the opposite end of the world, i have ALWAYS wanted to live there...
