I was waitlisted.
Does anyone know how many people get in off the waitlist, how it's done and when we find out? I've accepted a spot and still deffinately want to go to McGill more than anything.

bump (10 char)

i heard waitlisted people literally have no chance at all at mcgill...not sure though..

Damn, really? If that's so, why would they even bother offering spots though?

Oh well, I'm on there too. Looks like I'm heading to Vancouver.

what program you guys on for? certain programs have it much harder since so many more people apply.

Arts, which is part of the reason there's probably no room left. The other part is that I'm from Long Island, and colleges typically only allow a certain number of students from my area. So I figure my chances are shot to hell.

Arts. Whether I get in or not I just want to know...does anyones know when they usually tell you, or is it as random as they claim? I'm from Albany, NY....looks like either Maryland or Toronto. Any recommendations?

bump bump bump

Yeah, so I got in. I'm happy. That's all.

great for you. So are you going to go? what will you major in?

I just got in off the wait list! It was Arts, too. Super excited! I was set on UBC because I figured the chances of the wait list was nil so I'm torn on where to go...

Damn them, making me complacent in disappointment.

btw...what were ur stats for those of you who got off the waitlist?

GPA: 3.3 UW; 3.8 W
ACT: 29
Rank: 50/550

I live in Southern California at a pretty difficult high school--fair amount of people go to Stanford, UCLA, UCB, etc. The majority of my schedule sophomore year on has been APs or honors classes. After being wait listed I got an extra recommendation letter and visited McGill, waiting I could meet with someone in the admissions office, so I assume that helped.

what was ur junior/senior year gpas? did u apply towards the end of application dates (curious because of rolling admissions.)

for those off the waitlist with the deposits paid, what do we do next? I'm so confused- I feel like I need to be doing things to register but mcgill hasn't told me anything.

Grades:
2040 SAT (650M, 700CR, 690W)
two AP scores of 4
average of about a 90-94
From a long island, ny school, ranked about the 150th best in the country by newsday. That probably worked against me.

That's all you'll need to know. I applied to Arts, and I'm probably going to major in music theory/comp.

Haven't paid the deposit yet, but I probably will today.

how did u get waitlisted?
ur stats seemed really good, or at least pretty good. Do you think it maybe had to do with rolling admissions

It's probably because of where I'm from, at least in part. The area I live in (Long Island) produces an absurd number of really good students, so odds are McGill wants to keep that number down in order to diversify their American student body.

Also, colleges are basically crapshoots. I know a guy who got into MIT, and rejected from UPenn. So, there's no way of really understanding what colleges do to get these results.

well are you going to go then?
Congrats. And, im guessing you like Meshugga huh?
They are pretty good.
