Does anyone know if Dartmouth is going to the wait-list this year? Has anyone gotten in off the wait-list so far?

Dartmouth has overenrolled, and will not be using the waitlist. Sorry.

How do you know this? I know it is possible because I heard they over enrolled for class of 2005 and had to build extra dorms (called treehouses. where do they get these names???) It would suck if that happened twice.

Sorry. :(

The day before that article, Dartmouth put transfers ON a wait list.

You know there is a difference between being waitlisted and being called from the waitlist. While you may have been placed on the waitlist, it means that you may be called to attend should there be room in the admissions class.

Dean Furstenberg states:

This year’s high yield has eliminated the College’s need to use its wait list and will likely reduce the number of accepted transfer students in an effort to compensate for the unusually large prospective freshman class.

I would not wait out the wait list as current freshman would have to leave in order for people on the waitlist to get a spot. Since room draw was last week (and students could only participate in room draw if they were going to be in residence) and there are currently 120-140 rising sophomores without rooms, I doubt if they are going to the waitlist because they already have no room to place students who are currently enrolled.
