I was told by Georgetown that 50 applicants remain on the extended waitlist and that news of a spot opening up can come at any time through the end of June. My son applied to the College...but, I am presuming the 50 remaining are applicants to NHS, College, SFS, etc. In hindsight, I realize I didn't clarify that point.

eh- more unsettling news from GU today...
the lady i spoke to today said there were 60-70 applicants still on the extended waitlist, and that there were less than 10 for SFS (the school i applied for), but that they are anticipating very few acceptances from the ex-waitlist, especially for SFS--
also the list is not ranked, the example she gave me was as follows:
"if someone planning on studying russian withdrawls from our school, we will go to the waitlist to find someone who wanted to study russian."
she said it was more about fit at this point because everyone who has made it this far has demonstrated interest.

Interesting. I don't know why they can't give us a consistent and precise number. The woman I spoke with this morning said only 50 were on the extended waitlist. I guess it doesn't really matter much at this point, especially since the "fit" factor is so utterly out of our control. You should all feel very proud to have made it this far at such a highly competitive school. (Not much consolation, I know. But it's what I keep telling my son.)

Ughhh the uncertainty factor is very difficult lol, nut I suppose June 30th is reasonable consideirng most waitlist drag into July...I wonder what the projected number of applicants ot of 50 that are aaccepted are? Perhaps 5-10 or so?

Hey, everyone. Long time no talk lol. I talked to Georgetown today and they said the would probably be accpeting no more than 5-6 from the new wl, based on a combo of merit and interest.

They said that at THIS point they have no spaces to offer but that offers would be made as soon as they do...most likely in mid June. They basically said you will be contacted before June 30 if your in, if not you'll just get a June 30 release letter. the gentleman I talked to also said odds are in fact very slim.

By the sounds of things, I'm in the same boat... I'm applying to the SFS and received this letter on the 15th:

"The Committee (...) has completed its review of your application. I am sorry to tell you that the Committe has been unable to change its decision (...). The Committee did include you among a small number of candidates allowed to keep their names on a Waiting List until June 30th."

It also says "I must emphasize that, in our judgement, the likelihood of further spaces becoming available is quite small."

I'm feeling pretty nervous waiting for 'The Committee' to decide the fate of a mere mortal such as myself... Especially since Georgetown is my top choice by far! Don't know what to do, but I sure hate just waiting.

Wpw thatkid id call gtown for sure...meantime, has anyone done anything to get off the WL or have we basically done all we can(what im assuming) and have to just ride it out for a few more weeks?

lol, it's encouraging for the human race that we're helping each other out like this, since we're direct competitors for the tiny number of spaces that we have left!

Personally, I've sent an email since I received the extended waitlist notice. I'm figuring that it's better for them to have something in writing. I just informed that of a few things that might be relevant to their consideration of me (related to what I've been up to since last time they heard from me). And reminding them that I really want to go there! :S

I'm writing this to give you all a little hope:

My daughter was also on this waitlist, NHS. They called last night at 9pm (she was out) and asked if she was still interested. Heck, yes! I thought. When she got home she called him back at 10pm and said yes. So, she's IN!

I'm writing this to give hope to all! My daughter was on this waitlist, NHS, like all of you. Just last night, 9pm, an admissions officer called and offered her a spot (which she took). Woohoo! Hang on, Guys! You could be next.

I am so excited for you, emmas mom, congragulatuions to "emma" lol!!! That is an exhilarating feeling. I want to here some news out of georgetown's other schools too, there seems to be activity with NHS only for some reason at this point?
