wait-list?

So this is my first time signing up for a class that is waitlisted. Actually, the class is way open but the discussion I need is waitlisted. If I'm number 4 on a waitlist with a capacity of 5, am i pretty much screwed or pretty much in? Should i look for an alternate class just in case?

thanks so much.

you can always sign up for a different discussion, and arrange a switch with your TA. there are always people who get stuck in inconvenient sections and want to switch them. worse comes to worse, you have an odd-hours sections (8am, 5pm, etc). unless they ALL happen to overlap with something, in which case try to pick one that might be desirable to someone else and use the "overlap override" option on ursa.
what class is this for, btw?

yeah, i guess i'll wait and see and hopefully some people switch to a different hour. or maybe the TA will be okay with having a few extra people. oh and it's for a&o 2- air pollution.. blah.. =]

thanks for your suggestions!

the last time that prof taught this class, there were more sections and 28 per section capacity. none of the sections exceeded capacity which tells me that you'd only get a spot if enough people drop it. other classes DO have sections exceeding capacity (ie, my anthro 7 last winter) because they added extra people in. in this case i really wouldn't count on it.
are there ANY other sections you can sign up for? i'd do it now before you're stuck with 9am. and if you're stuck with 9am, this class is offered every quarter (it seems) so you can take it with a different prof at a better time.

yeahh... the only other section that is possible for me is on a friday and at either 9 or 10 which sucks because that was going to be my day off. so i may just look into taking another class. picking classes has turned out to be one of the most tedious parts of college. =[

Perhaps email Professor Lew about how he handles it?

yeah thats a great idea mme-lin! thanks. i just emailed him and now i shall wait for his response.
