I got a letter from the actual univeristy Sat. telling me I was waitlisted but i thought that was weird that there was no mention of the MT department, so I emailed Cary Libkin to asked what that meant for MT…he said I was on the Waitlist for musical theatre as well…Which I say, hey, it’s better than nothing…but it still means I have to wait another 2 months to find out! Was anyone else waitlisted? Do we know how many are on the waitlist?

My daughter recieved the same letter Sat- from the admissions office-waitlisted for main campus but no mention of musical theatre rejection or acceptance.

I was on the panel at the last audtion as a parent (duh) and the way Cary explained the process was as follows. The MT dept. will be accepting 16-20 to get a class of 12-14. After that group, there is a waitlist that Cary goes to as people, as he says it half-jokingly, make a "not bright" decision to turn PSU down! The waitlist is used to complete the class. I think this is done to assure a correct class size( rather than over-accepting). Cary also assured the parents at the info session that besides him, he doubts the faculty even knows or remembers who was wl or not in the fall (the only reason he knows is that he does the administrative work to create the class). Certainly it has no bearing on the kids' "status" in the class. Everyone is treated as a member of MT in the fall. And I do believe that he has gone to the wl several times since he started doing it this way, maybe every year. It also might NOT take until May bc as kids decline Cary moves quickly to offer the spots. I hope I explained this correctly.

thank you ttmom, my S was put on the waitlist also. I called the MT office and they said the same thing as ttmom.
They said they also give them until May 1st to decide. I don't know when other Mt programs want to know. My son received a full academic scholorship to a BS Mt program and they want to know by April 1st. We still will be waiting until the end of March for 2 other school. Keep the faith.
