Wait List

I'm a sophomore at GWU with a 3.53, and I have a feeling that there is a possibility that I might be waitlisted for some of my reaches (UVA, UCLA). Should this happen, would my spring grades become a deciding factor on where I land on the list?

If you are placed on the wait list UVA requires you to send your spring grades, otherwise you won't be evaluated on whether to admit you off of the wait list. I'm applying there as well, good luck to the both of us. :)

Whats your major that your transferring to? I am also in the NOVA area, applying as a transfer for UVA and USC, so were both west coaters + east coasters.

But it depends on your major for UVA. My friend tried to apply as a transfer from VCU to UVA with a 3.7 in psychology and he was wait-listed (This was last year). BUT PLEASE note, this was for a sophomore transfer, not junior, so it was also strongly based on his HS grades which wasn't that strong. They asked him to send in his transcripts and he would be notified in June but he didn't get in. Don't let that bring you down though, please note again, he was applying as a sophomore transfer, if you apply as a junior, most of the admission decisions are based on your college trans and app, than HS.

On the same note, how does one get off the waitlist or at least increase his/her chances of admission?

I think what you can do is to send more supp materials such as essay, awards/honors... dont flood the adcom with a whole list though. More than that, send them an email/ letter expressing your interest to the school. Fin aid might be part of the reason, so if you think it's bc of your family contribution, you can try to raise it...

good luck, since im waitlisted for 2 schools too lol.
