Just wondering, is there a waiting list for NYU Tisch CAP21? Also, if you are placed on the wait list, when are you usually notified if you’ve been accepted?

I'm not aware of a wait list for CAP21, but I can't give you the definitive answer. For one thing, I don't think it works that way at Tisch. With Tisch, you first get accepted into TISCH itself, not a particular studio. Once accepted, a week later or so, you are assigned a studio. CAP21, like many programs, accepts a certain number to yield the number they want to have for the freshman class. This number may vary year to year as they gauge the yield year to year (for example, in my D's year...which is this year's current seniors, the yield was higher than expected and most took the offer and they had a larger class than is typical in CAP). It had been that they accepted about 80 to yield 64 but they may not accept 80 anymore, not sure. It may be less now. CAP21 itself doesn't have a wait list that I know of. It could be that Tisch has a wait list and if they utilize it, then place anyone they take off of it into studios that are appropriate for that student and where there is room. I haven't heard of people getting off a Tisch wait list but that doesn't mean there isn't one. You could ask the school directly.

Interesting question. Like soozievt (who is our resident expert on Tisch!), I have never heard of a kid saying he or she was waitlisted for CAP.
