Wait List

Did anyone else get put on Princeton's wait list?

I don't know how the college expects anyone on the list to be able to go, since students have to make their decision for their other colleges by May 1st and they won't know whether Princeton will want them until after that.

Well the way I understand it is you’d just call up the other college and say nvm. One of my friends did that with Northwestern.

I am on the Princeton Wait list. My understanding is that you “commit” to another school and pay the deposit. However, if the school you are waiting on decides to admit you, you may change your mind. Unfortunately, you would lose the deposit.

Yeah. I am on the wait list too. It is perfectly legitimate to sign up for a different school. You just have to foot the bill even if you decide to go to a different school instead.

are you staying on the wait list or enrolling in another school?

i’m staying on the wait list…regardless of whether or not you’re staying on the wait list, you NEED to enroll at another school…you can’t take your chances…they even say in the letter that they expect you to take a spot in another school by the may 1 deadline…

I’m staying as well. My suggestion is that you stay only if you absolutely positively want to go to that school. If you’re ready to commit to another school and your fine with where you are going, then I suggest taking your name off the wait list.

somebody said something about sending a letter. who do I address it to? the admissions in general?

like we’re going to help our competition… ^

haha jk, yeah that shuld be fine… but you should only send a letter if you have significant updates since Jan. You don’t want to annoy them with a pointless letter.

and yeah, please dont accept it unless you really woul drop your other school last week of august for Princeton. Otherwise you’re keeping our spots :(

^agreed!..

Anyone know how many people they anticipate to take off the waitlist? I mean, with the shaky economy and large pool of applicants this year? I’m thinking since there were so many applicants this year, lots of the students who were admitted were probably also offered spots at Harvard, Yale, Stanford and whatnot (and Princeton seems to have a relatively low matriculation rate compared to “competitors”). So should we be optimistic about the waitlist?

i think between 60-150 haha

but even if it was 200… we should not be optimistic.

[Waitlist larger than projected size for Class of 2013 - The Daily Princetonian](http://www.dailyprincetonian.com/2009/04/03/23262/) it doesn’t matter if your “competition” stays, if they decide not to come anyway, the spot will still be open

^ i hope so!!

I might be one of those who stays on the waitlist, but may not decide to go – I would have to consider it well, if it came to that.

dude, this is a year old thread.

^lol. I know, but there isn’t really an active Princeton waitlist thread is there? Does anyone know what the chances are to get in Princeton waitlist…?

Actually, there is one about a month old. But I figure it’s better to revive this one than the other one.

The FAQ on the Princeton waitlist got misplaced before I got to see it. Does anybody have a copy of what it said? Waitlists aren’t binding, right (I can still stay with my original college)?
