I know it varies from year-to-year, but does anyone know the approximate percentage of students GW accepts off the wait-list? I've sent a letter, talked to an admissions rep by phone, and gotten some additional reccomendations; do I have a decent shot? Thanks for any help!

Hi idk if this helps but my friend got accepted off the waitlist about three weeks ago. She saidbthey called her, asked her a few questions and sent her an acceptance package ib the mail a few days later. So check with them to see if they are still accepting people from the waitlist

Ultraviolet: I believe Brightfuture is mistaken or the friend made up a story. GW has not yet pulled anyone off the wait list for this year. Last year they pulled before May 1 and ended up with too many students, so this year they chose to wait until they heard from all the admitted students. That deadline was May 1. They should start contacting wait list students soon.

Has anyone heard back from GWU yet? I’ve done everything I can in terms of sending letters, extra recs, and calling them. I’m still waiting for some kind of response.

Have you guys gotten any info via email from GW’s Office of Admissions? My friend was waitlisted at American, and he said that he has gotten a few updates from their office in the past few weeks saying that they are going into their wait list around mid-May (or something to that effect). Good luck to all of you. Just hang on; I think you have done all in your power to deserve a spot! :D

Generally speaking, American does a much better job of communicating with students. Anyone who has applied to American, GTown and/or GW knows this. At least twice, and probably closer to four, times as much mail. Both email and snail. That being said, mid-may is typically when wait-listed students are contacted. Hang in there. Until they say “sorry”, you’re in the hunt.

Thanks for letting me know imvulpine I wasn’t aware of that fact, given that I haven’t had the need to contact American or Georgetown. I’ve liked GW’s communication so far, but I could have been just lucky. And yes, I agree that a lot of colleges tend to have a better idea around mid-May of how many spots they can fill with students from waitlist.
