<p>There is a rumor that Harvard has accepted certain applicants who were wait listed for the class of 2014 that they have been accepted, but for the class of 2015. Is this possible? It makes no sense to me and I wonder whether its a hoax.</p>

<p>No. If this is for real, they are being required to take a gap year.</p>
<p>Yes, this is something that Harvard does every year.</p>
<p>Those applicants are collectively called the Z-list, and they’re generally (I believe) legacies or children from extremely wealthy families.</p>
