Wait listed classes

Is there a chance that I can enroll in a class with 39 wait listed students? If not, what is a good amount of wait listed students to consider signing up for a class?

I’m starting to get a little worried too about the waitlisted classes :confused: I’ve been looking up classes just to see my options for teachers… but considering my spop is the second to last one (spop7)… all I’m worried about now is just getting IN to a class.

should I be worried?

Not sure how the policy works anymore, since they got rid of add/drop cards…

But don’t lose hope if you’re still on the waitlist, even 39th. Go to first lecture, talk to the professor. See what he/she has to say.

@kristinat10, I have no experience with a late spop, i went to spop 1 last year. All I can advise is to keep checking webreg for openings, everyday.

it’s possible you might get in. depends on the class i guess, and if it’s a huge class. people probably will drop the class if they attend the first lecture and decide they don’t like the professor’s style of teaching or whatever. good luck!

@junshik & @phamous thank you for the reassurance! I’ll just have to wait and see.

how do signing up for the classes work? do they go in alpha order? or do people just wait in line?

Cus i want to be one of the FIRST ones in line to sign up for classes :p

@kristinat:

it depends on your major. registration part of spop is divided into majors. some majors register right after lunch, and some register at like 3. so it really depends.
if you are one of the late ones registering, or even if you’re the first one, i would highly recommend that you plan out your schedule thoroughly before registering, so it wouldn’t take you long to register into your classes. Make sure to have back-up classes just in case there is not enough room. registering is done in groups in computer labs :] just make sure you have the code number for the class (or you’ll be spending time looking for this on websoc, which takes time). Good luck!

@aishxashley thanks for the great tip! and yeah I’ve been scheduling my classes for a couple days now… checking back now and again for class availability.

when we register in groups… do groups go in particular order or does everyone register in their groups at the same time?

registering really depends on the group that you’re in and how many there are in that group. when i was at spop, all the groups were assigned to a computer lab, and for the majors that had a lot of people (i think biological sciences was the biggest one there) registered a while after lunch was over.
simply, it’s randomized. so i wish you the best of luck!
