Hey guys, so I just checked my application status, and noticed that I've been "waitlisted".

So my question is, how does this all work out now? Are the chances/percentages of wait-listed people high? As in, do people who have been wait-listed usually end up being accepted? Just a quick explanation of how this "wait-listed" status works out would be nice. :P It's nice to know I haven't been rejected, but then again wait-listed shouldn't be something I should be that happy about lol :P.

I also have a few things I need to point out about my transcript, and how my average should be 2-3 points higher than the one on it, so do you think my chances of being accepted after being wait-listed would increase with that? What can I do to increase my chances for being accepted after being wait-listed?

I know someone who just got waitlisted but it also said that she was accepted for the Spring semester. I don't know if that is true for everyone.

Hmmm, that would actually be a tough choice on choosing to enroll during the Spring Term. I haven't been offered that yet, maybe it'll change soon, but as for now it's waitlisted.

I did call them, and they told me there isn't really anything you could do to try and increase your chances. I asked if they had a "ranked waiting-list", but they told me they don't have it like that, and that it's random or something.

Anyways I'll call again, and ask about sending in additional info/visits, because from what I've read, there are a few more things you can do to increase your chances of being accepted after being wait-listed. I know that they've already said that additional info, etc doesn't matter, but I just want a second opinion/answer on that, because I honestly think it doesn't hurt to send all of it in.

waitlisted after being deferred. 3.8 GPA, Honors, APs, national honor society and other ECs, internship, 1820 SATs(600v /650m), good recs, good essay( at least what my teachers and I thought) and two community services. I just feel like sharing my pain with everyone else. Definitely surprise about the waitlist too lol

sometimes i think it's random, i really do.....

i applied to bing last year and my sister goes too so i purposely tried to sabatoge it and i was so sure i wouldn't get in. I had a GPA a little under 90, my SATs were a little above average and i sent the application in 3 weeks too late, after my parents forced me to.

Bing was the last school i heard from and they told me i was waitlisted and i tried to hide it but my parents found the letter and made me send in the notification of acceptance to be placed on the waitlist. that was 3 weeks late too, and i still got accepted for the Fall of 2007. so reading other people's stats make no sense to me cause some very bright and intelligent people are being rejected and waitlisted and i was just average AND i tried to sabatoge it.

but i read somewhere that 100% of the people waitlisted are accepted for either semester because not everyone who is accepted into binghamton enrolls. im not sure if that's true, but it was the case with me.
