D was wait listed what are the chances of admission? If offered admission what is the timing? Before May 1st? Any chance of financial aid?

Most years they take some off the waitlist. You can see details by going to the Holy Cross website and checking out the Common Data Set. Here’s a summary

Last year - accepted 19 off the waitlist (of 1691 offered a spot on waitlist, 538 of whom accepted)
2009 - accepted no one off waitlist (1655/526)
2008 - accepted 33 (1235/382)

They don’t go to the waitlist until they see who is coming from the regular acceptances, so it will be the second week of May at best. There may not be financial aid for waitlist kids - they make no promises.

If your D is really interested, have her contact admissions with any good news (grades, awards)and make clear she will come if accepted. In the meantime, put a deposit down at another school.
