Hi, I was just wondering who has been wait listed and for what major. Also, what have you heard about the likelihood of being accepted

I was waitlisted 2/17/09 when I checked myportal. I applied to Animal Science with a 3.2 transfer GPA from a CSU. We are supposed to hear by May 15th if were in or not but I called the admissions office and if we send a letter saying why CP is our number one school we should be moved up on the waitlist. Hope this helps.

nice, well i hope we find out before the 15th since my back ups deadline for intent to enroll is may 1st but good luck

Yea, I will already be out of school by then and if accepted I would need transcripts sent out etc so hopefully well know before then. What did you apply into? Transfer or freshman? Good luck to you too!

Im a transfer student from a community college. i have a 3.67 gpa and i applied to kinesiology

bump... not alot of waitlisters out there i guess hmm good perhaps?

Waitlisted also, transfer with 3.34gpa (when I applied). I am going to do a letter also. Are you guys sending it via email or postal service?

i just emailed them. kept it short and simple. what is your major?

Mechanical Engineering. I wish they did an update after fall, my gpa went up to 3.43 after that semester.

I was wondering what the chances of someone getting off of the waitlist are. How many people do you think end up getting off of it?

well didnt you send your transcripts after your fall 08 grades? i sent mine with my updated gpa in january. but to answer your question i have no idea. i was hoping this thread would help me find that out but no one i have talked to really has heard anything about the chances. i think its a really good sign that we are at least on the waitlist though. im also wondering if it will actually take them until the first half of may to tell us if we are in or not because my back up schools deadline for intent to enroll is may 1st. soo lame

No one told me to send transcripts, I thought you have to wait until the school requests them of you. I wish I could tell them my grades went up somehow...maybe in my letter.

I agree, May 15 is a long wait from now, and an inconvenient time with regard to other schools' deadlines.

I sent in a letter through email. He then forwarded it to his supervisor and she told me she forwarded my letter to the VP and I should be hearing from them within two weeks via a formal letter. Apparently, regardless if the decision, well still remain on the waitlist if that makes sense. I guess its just to see if any spots open up later. I wrote them a decent size letter saying that Im working 20+ hours a week at a place related completely to my major and everything else Im juggling so they can see how strong of a student I am and prepared for Poly. Im a transfer student so it may work a little bit different for me but this is all Ive hear so far. I would write any new progress in your letter. Anything you can think of. Nothing will hurt you at this point. Good luck!

Hey heathcuel, I was wondering if you got a reply back from the VP?

Not yet but it hasnt been 2 weeks for me yet. Did you get waitlisted as well? For what major? Stats?

yea got waitlisted as well...for Architecture... I have a 4.0...EC, work experience and all... so I'm hoping they'll reconsider.

Yea, when I wrote my letter I mentioned that I have work experience towards my major and honestly I think thats a huge part and they really look at that. When did you write your letter? Are you an incoming freshman or transfer? Good luck :)

I wrote mines on the 16th. What about you? I'm a transfer...

I wasnt notified I was waitlisted until the 17 and I kind of sat on it for a while because alot of people were telling me I couldnt do anything about it. But then I started reading things online and called admissions and finally wrote the letter almost 2 weeks ago now. You still havent heard anything? And you status on mycalpoly hasnt changed?

I haven't heard anything from them since the email...I barely wrote it on Monday..so I won't hear from them until early April...how long was your letter? Mines was short...I didn't think they would fwd it to the VP...should have written more...

My letter definitely wasn't short but it wasn't long either. I'm not much for words. It was 4 paragraphs or so if that helps haha. Did you email your letter to the general admissions email?
