My son is wait-listed at USNA, and I know there are others out there waiting as well. Is there any news yet?

wait listed candidates could hear as late as the week of I-Day. all that depends upon how many appointments were turned down.

The wait list will remain active until July 1.
Following that no appointments will be offered.

Applicants have already had to accept or decline their appointment.

If there are any openings, it will be due to other circumstances-
a late minute change of heart, an injury that prevents participation in plebe summer, grades that tank during the close of senior year, trouble of any kind-
all can de-rail someone due to report.

I will be honest here.
Very few are accepted from the wait list.
Do some get in?
Yes- but we are talking about a small handful- even single digits.

If it does not work out for this year, I would strongly urge your son to apply for next year, especially having gotten this far this cycle.

The wait is over - the letter came today indicating that my son would not be offered an appointment. Thank you , navy2010, we knew the odds weren’t great and he’s already accepted a NROTC (Marine) scholarship at a wonderful school. Best of luck to everyone!
