wait-listing classes

I'm on the wait list for one of the pre-reqs for my major. It's one of a few options for that particular pre-req. It's a smaller class and only offered in the fall. I'm third on the wait list. Would it be worth it to e-mail asking for an override or just wait it out and see what happens over the summer? Do professors usually let students from the wait list in over the summer, or is it necessary to express my interest through e-mail? Any information anyone can give me about the best way to get into the class would be great, thanks in advance!

You should do whatever you can think of to up your chances even by a hair.

So should I e-mail the professor and say that I’m in that subject’s major and am really interested in taking the class next semester, especially since it’s only in the fall?

You should talk to the department, the administration, not just the teacher.

If you need it for your major you should check with your concentation adviser as well.

If it’s for your major, there’s a chance they’ll give you preference for getting in off the waitlist. Concentrators typically get preference.
