Wait so..EA is more selective than Regular?

is my title true?

Direct quote from the BC website:

"The university aims to fill no more than 30% of the freshman class through the Early Action process, therefore, Early Action at Boston College is more selective than Regular Decision."

My son goes to a Jesuit high school that always sends a good number of students to BC each year. According to a guidance counselor there, EA applicants to BC should be exceptionally strong students who do not need to "polish" their applications with ACT/SAT retakes or 1st semester grades from senior year. Otherwise, students should apply RD.

thank youu

The EA acceptance rate for last year was 37% compared to the 29% regular acceptance. The EA group was much smaller and more competitive though.
