Clueless question:
D (HS junior) wants to retake the SAT in Aug to get higher scores (her score now is just ok).
Some of the schools are rolling admission and she wants to be in a competitive major (Nursing) so she was planning to apply this summer.
Should she wait until after she gets her scores to apply to?
Or should she apply before that and not submit scores yet?
What’s the best way to proceed?
Thanks!
Is Nursing the same rolling admission as the rest of the university? We’ve seen for some schools that they have different deadlines altogether.
Also, did she arrange to have her scores sent immediately to her schools or will she wait to see what they are first?
Could be wrong here, but it’s hard to believe the programs are going to fill before the end of August, when the vast majority of kids haven’t even applied anywhere yet. She is probably safe waiting till end of August/early Sept. unless you know for a fact that applying in the summer is optimal and you and she believe her applications are “good enough” for consideration. It also might be possible to get in the queue by applying very early, then sending the best score (or all for a superscore) in August. You might check with Admissions on that to see what they advise.
She only had it sent to one school (her top pick!) since she hadn’t decided on others yet. Good idea about asking admissions, thanks!
