WAIT..... WHAT!? I have to take TOEFL....?

S decided not to take TOEFL( 2 years ago) . He is a permanent resident, graduated from HS in the States. His "first" language was Russian but English is his primary language( has been since he was 6) . BU was satisfied with S's high SAT language scores, they admitted him without a problem.

You have to take the TOEFL if you checked 'no' to either of the questions and he checked no to both. He could put English as his first language because there are varying interpretations of what 'first language' means, but he would then also have to say that English is the primary language spoken at home, which it's not--I don't see how there would be varying interpretations of that either.

English is my THIRD languageand I only moved to the US about 4 years ago so I had the same problem. The schools I applied to also said that I need to take the TOEFL but I apparently its either take the TOEFL or score well on the English part on the ACT (I think its a 21 or higher). I never took the TOEFL and seem to have no problems even though I checked english is not my first language. I still suggest you call and make sure...

Why not? Even Bill Clinton, who graduated from Yale Law School did not know what is is.:)

OMG this is worrying me. Seriously, I don't think I have the time to take any other tests.
I started my education in an international school (learned spanish and english at the same time), but language spoken at home is Korean.
I've heard some schools exempt you from taking the TOEFL if you score well on CR of SAT.
I got a 610, but not sure if this satisfies BU's expectations.
Anyone comment on this?

^ I simply suggest you call them and ask
