Wait, what?

Oct 4 Administration of the SAT:
CR - 640
Math - 780
Writing - 790

I am a junior in high school and took the SAT for the first time in October. So I understand the new score reporting policy will be in effect starting in March. I was wondering, since after March, there is no more superscoring, can I send my scores before March of this year to colleges to take advantage of the superscoring while there's still time? Is even allowed, because do SAT scores have to be sent in WITH the college application?

I know it may be a stupid question, but I'm fairly new to the college application process and need an answer. Thanks in advance!

Or does superscore depend on the college one will apply to, regardless of the new score reporting policy?

-You can send in your scores anytime, BUT they might get lost by the colleges. When scores are received, and the application hasn't be submitted, the scores are put in a collective unclassified file.
-AFAIK the new policy means you can pick and choose which scores to send, meaning that you can send a few sets of scores.
-I don't know if the colleges will still superscore for class of 2010 and later though.

You can't take the top scores from multiple SATs anymore?

No, they don't put them into a collective file. They start a file on you and if they receive a complete app from you, then they're ready to look at it. So go for it and take it again before March.

But does superscoring stay in effect even after March?

Dean J:
Most schools will say they start a file for any credential, but honestly, it will sit in miscellaneous credential files (see the second picture here) until a formal application is submitted and the fee is paid.

Looking that the miscellaneous credentials files towards the end of the application season, you can see why we don't start a new application file for every item that arrives before an application is submitted.
